Housing Folsom Lake College Students
HART of Folsom is excited to partner with Oak Hills Church and Folsom Lake College to provide transitional housing with professional case management to unhoused Folsom Lake College Students.
HART’s vision for this project crystallized upon learning that the population of unhoused students at Folsom Lake College increased significantly in the past few years. To date, there are 77 unhoused students at Folsom Lake College. These students are working diligently to complete their college course work while couch surfing, sleeping in cars, storage units, or in tents.
Five years ago, HART and Oak Hills Church joined hands to reduce homelessness in Folsom by helping those in our community who were marginalized and without a home. This was accomplished by Oak Hills Church providing housing units on their campus for the clients of HART’s Transitional Housing Program. Building on the success of our partnership, today we share a goal to expand housing on the Oak Hills Campus by building studio apartments.
Once completed, the new transitional housing units on Oak Hills Church Campus will house female students from Folsom Lake College in need of safe shelter. These students will be clean and sober and willing to work a minimum of 12-20 hours a week.

The focus of our transitional housing program is to help those who are striving to change their circumstances before trauma becomes deeply ingrained. Our objective is to stabilize the students for approximately six months to eight months while providing professional case management through First Steps Communities. Our purpose is to help individuals today and prevent long term homelessness tomorrow.
HART’s Holiday Festival on November 16, 2024, is the launch for the remodeling project on Oak Hills Church Campus. It’s at the Folsom Community Center from 12 pm to 7 pm. This event will have fabulous live music, a multi-cultural food court, drinks, wonderful holiday shopping, and the entry fee is only $5. Please mark your calendars and share the event with family, friends, and neighbors. Everyone who participates in Hart’s holiday kick-off celebration will make a big difference in the lives of those who are willing and able to change their circumstances. We hope you will join us!
